E3

E3 is the kind of place people like me dream of having the opportunity to go to one day. The kind of place where the entire industry has come together to show off, surprise and shock the rest of the world with what they have in store.  Going there for work however was not exactly how I pictured myself ending up there, and the struggle of having to film whilst wanting to play proved difficult at times!

The plan we had was the same as usual, to make a video less on games and more on people. I conducted interviews to try and get peoples personal views on E3 as much as possible, but instead of only going for our usual hand-held style Oz suggested that we mix it with a very filmic feel.

When it came to the edit and the integration of the graphic elements I got from Keko (Khairul), I decided to give the graphics a sense of depth and reality by rotoscoping things that would go over them. For example, in the shot below a hand goes up over the text but I’ve rotoscoped it to make it seem as if it is behind the hand.  Very simple but looks very cool.

Tudinh, our fearless leader and studio singer extraordinaire, is starting to become quite the colourist and kindly graded the piece in Apple Color.

I’d like to thank Bitmob for giving us the opportunity to attend E3 and a big shout out to all the people who lent us their time for the interviews.
